“Been there, done that
did it five years ago with ‘Symbiont’." This was my first reaction when presented with the idea of again offering my raw song files up for remix. How humbled am I when reminded that the version of ‘Symbiont’ I threw out there to be remixed wasn’t even the final version to end up on the debut Celldweller CD.
“Hmmm, good point.”
I had re-cut vocals and done some reprogramming (etc) to the track and, at that moment, it dawned on me that I had not yet officially made any tracks from the debut CD available for remixers and audio ninjas to mutilate and subjugate. So out of that small revelation, a whole new monster was born and I am looking forward to hearing its offspring.
With that said, let me formally welcome
you to the Celldweller Remix Competition V 2.0. I had decided right from the start that I wasn’t going to jump on the remix bandwagon and offer the songs fully laid out in popular software programs. This would make it far too easy and tempting to simply rearrange the existing parts, which I didn’t feel would truly represent a “remix”. So here, all you’ll get is a bunch of .wav files to import into any program(s) of your choice (I'm such a prick). Vocals, guitars, bass, drums, loops, synths and whatever else I felt was necessary to provide you will be included. Now the rest is up to you.
This is all about you and your sound
...stamp it onto these songs. There are no stylistic boundaries so don’t feel that you have to try recreating the original tracks. Props in advance to everyone who gets involved – now go fire up your gear and get out of here.
Check this site for more details on where to get the files, where to submit your remix(es) and when fan voting begins.
I made it. You take it. You break it.
